SEMrush Review: Revamp your SEO Strategy

Have you used SEMrush before? Still on the fence? I provide an extensive SEMrush review in this article, and I hope you’re ready to revamp your SEO strategy!

But first, let’s start with the basics.

SEO.

SEM.

UGH! Google is constantly changing how they rank, and you try to optimize your site, but are you making any headway?

For many small businesses and non-profits, it is a guess and pray strategy.

Now, most people don’t need to rank on the first page of Google for their business, but it would be nice to be optimized so that people can find you in the map packs and other places, right?

First, what’s a map pack? Here is one I just pulled up for restaurants near me:

Depending on what you do, you still want to be found, and while you might not be willing or able to spend a lot of time and money on optimizing for search engine optimization, tools like SEMrush come in handy.

I am in love with SEMrush. I used this resource off and on for a while, but now I log in daily and work on my client site audits.

The rest of this article provides an overview of some of the tools you can use in SEMrush and what they can do for you, OR if you’re a visual learner, I have embedded my SEMrush review video below:

Site Audit

Site audits are my favorite, and if you want to run a site health check on your site, you can do it right from our resources page here.

Don’t know where to start with your site or how your site is doing?

Use this tool to get started! It will identify any technical and SEO mistakes on your website, help you prioritize each of the issues, and create a plan of attack.

Common Site Issues:
  • Do you have a page that doesn’t work anymore?
  • Are you linking to a page that doesn’t exist anymore?
  • Does every page have meta descriptions?
  • Are your pages secure, or do you have HTTP and HTTPS mixed?

Keyword Research

So, you are ready to optimize for search, but what words should you choose? You’re in luck; SEMrush can help!

They have a keyword overview tool based on organic research that examines where your competitors are ranking. Investigate their keyword magic tool to find new ideas and bridge the gap between you and your competition. You also have the option to track and manage keywords and get insights into your website’s organic search performance.

Other Tools

On-Page SEO Suggestions

Social Media

They can actually post and track your social media performance.

I know this SEMrush review covers a LOT of information, but when you think about it, every piece works together to provide you with excellent results in search.

If you’re feeling stuck, you can attend SEMrush’s academy and gain insight into what you need to know to optimize for search. It offers a wealth of information and can make SEO a bit easier to understand and manage.

They also offer a free trial allowing you to check it out, and if you find time to work on your SEO, I recommend it!

I am not affiliated with SEMrush, but if you are interested, check out their website at SEMrush.com. You could also keep things simple and run your site audit on our website (scroll towards the bottom of the page).

I am happy to explain what the different items mean and give you tips on improving your search engine rankings.
